Dr Herbert Slade, MD

Dr. Slade is a dual board-certified specialist in pediatrics and clinical immunology with more than 30 years of industry experience in clinical research and drug development. He has directed over 300 clinical trials of drugs, biologics and devices, and has more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.

His career includes serving as Chief Medical Officer at 3M Pharmaceuticals, where he oversaw a global clinical research organisation of 200 staff across the US, EU, Latin America, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, and as CMO and VP of R&D for Smith & Nephew’s Advanced Wound Management division. Earlier in his career he worked with Jonas Salk, MD on an HIV therapeutic vaccine as Director of AIDS and Immunology at Rhône-Poulenc Rorer (now Sanofi).

Dr Slade earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical University and completed a fellowship in clinical immunology at the University of Michigan. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology and a Fellow of the Wound Healing Society.
